Talk about NFL highlights and disasters.
Show them the Gap Mike!
Michael Strahan has retired. He was one of the greats and has a great personality. He was a key to the big change last year in the Coach's new approach. And as a player, I guess there are many QB's are breathing a little easier now that they don't have to worry about #92.I am happy that I got to see him play this long. I wish him every happiness. But I am sad for us Giants fans. So Show them the gap Mike!
Brother and sister?
Are Michael Strahan and Condoleezza Rice brother and sister? (Think about it.)
Giants hold players-only meeting in wake of Tennessee meltdown
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- With their season unraveling after an embarrassing fourth-quarter meltdown against Tennessee, the Giants held a players-only meeting Monday. An attempt to regroup before their NFC East showdown with Dallas this weekend, the 15- to 20-minute meeting was described by center Shaun O'Hara as "a little extra time among friends." It took place after coach Tom Coughlin spoke to the team about having its heart cut out in a 24-21 loss in which the Titans scored all their points in the final 9:35. ADVERTISEMENT "It was an upbeat meeting," said O'Hara, who refused to give specifics. "It was a good meeting. It was just what we needed." About a half-dozen players spoke, linebacker Antonio Pierce said. "If you were a rookie, you've never lost a game like this before," Pierce said. "But it wasn't geared for just the rookies. It was geared for veterans and everybody." A number of players asked Coughlin for permission to talk among themselves and the coach obliged after the worst fourth-quarter collapse in the team's 86-year history. The loss was the third straight for New York (6-5), which dropped it a game behind the Cowboys...
Tight end dislocates ring finger in warmups
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey dislocated his ring finger during pre-game warmups Sunday, but he planned to play against the Tennessee Titans. Shockey caught a few passes from Jared Lorenzen during the coin toss and kept shaking his left hand. The tight end ranks second for the Giants with 39 catches for 403 yards and five touchdowns. The Giants already were without defensive ends Michael Strahan (foot) and Osi Umenyiora (hip), cornerback Sam Madison (quadriceps), linebacker Brandon Short (quad) and offensive tackle Luke Petitgout (leg) -- all deactivated for the game.

The Giants will try to put aside their latest controversy Sunday when they attempt to regroup and avoid a third straight loss as they visit the Tennessee Titans. New York (6-4) must win this game to move back into a tie atop the NFC East with Dallas, which beat Tampa Bay 38-10 on Thanksgiving Day. The Giants had fallen into a first-place tie after a lackluster 26-10 loss Monday at Jacksonville. Coughlin's screaming voice could be heard through the closed doors in the locker room after the game. "Tom had every right to be upset with us, to be mad at us," quarterback Eli Manning said after the game. "We're not playing well. ... Everyone was angry." Barber said Wednesday the coaches abandoned the running game after he was limited to season lows of 10 carries and 27 yards rushing. It marked his fewest yards since Nov. 30, 2003, when he was held to 20 against Buffalo. He spent most of the second half blocking as Manning threw 27 of his 41 passes. "We got away...

Bucs place DE Rice on injured reserve
Simeon Rice will not suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers again this season. The Buccaneers placed the veteran defensive end on injured reserve Wednesday because of a nagging shoulder injury. Rice had 21 tackles, two sacks, a team-best four forced fumbles and one pass defensed in eight starts this season. He had been deactivated for Tampa's last two contests. Rice never had missed more than one game in a season. The Buccaneers are not expected to make a related move prior to Thursday's game in Dallas. A three-time Pro Bowler, Rice has 121 career sacks. Only the New York Giants' Michael Strahan (132.5) has more among active players.
