Talk about NFL highlights and disasters. | Anyone worried about Carson Palmer's arm? | | What do you think? He was suited up yesterday to play 3rd string quarterback if he was needed. How serious do you think it is? He seemed to be moving it fine yesterday, of cause bending it to put on a hat is alot different then throwing pass after pass after pass, not to mention with the lack of protection from the offensive line, he could get knocked around again and get it hurt worse. Do you think the Bengals organization is down playing the injury or that it's not that serious. A few of the pre game shows were mentioning he might need surgery. HOw do you think that will affect the rest of the season? I don't think Fitzpatrick will be able to knock them off thier 0-4 losing streak. Do you think they should give Carson's little brother a try and have him start a game? I haven't seen him throw so I am curious to see if he's as good as his big brother or not.
| | NFL Receiver Matt Jones Has a New Home, Cincinnati | | Matt Jones played quarterback for the University of Arkansas, but when he entered the NFL, after being selected in the first round by Jacksonville, he was moved to wide receiver, because of his size and speed.Jones would eventually begin to play like an NFL receiver, but a drug arrest would end his time with the Jaguars. After not playing last year, Matt Jones has another chance, one given to him by, the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals are the home of second chances. Jones owes his new job to the untimely death of Chris Henry, another receiver given a second chance by the Bengals.Matt Jones has all the physical skills to be a productive receiver for Carson Palmer, as long as he can stay on the field and out of trouble. | |
| | What happened to the Bengals? | | 0-4? What is going on with this team? Defense is doing a good job this year, but the offense has completely lost their rythm. The three musketeers ( Carson, Chad and TJ) have looked totally out of sync this year. The offensive line has provided Palmer with absolutely no protection at all and he's been battered since the season started. Does anyone think it's time for Marvin Lewis to be replaced? I like Lewis, but since he's taken over his defense has ranked low on the totem pole, even though he was a defensive genius at Baltimore, and the team has gone progressively down hill the last few seasons. What do you all think? | |
| | Chris Henry: Grabs Two TDs Sunday | |
Henry (hip) had one of his strongest games of the season Sunday, grabbing five receptions for 41 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Browns. Henry is one of the most productive third receivers in the NFL, with six touchdowns scored in only eight games played. With Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson apparently rejuvenated and T.J. Houshmandzadeh demanding attention from opposing defenses as well, Henry should see plenty of good matchups and scoring opportunities for the rest of the season.
| | Young, Leinart make their marks | |
Vince Young and Matt Leinart showcased the skills that made them first-round draft picks after super college careers. Young even got a win -- in record-setting fashion. The third overall pick in this year's draft, Young rallied Tennessee (4-7) from a 21-point deficit in the final quarter Sunday for a 24-21 win over the New York Giants. It was the biggest fourth-quarter comeback by a rookie quarterback, topping John Elway's 19-point rally with Denver on Dec. 11, 1983, against Indianapolis. "The legend of Vince Young began a long time ago," said Titans receiver Brandon Jones, who caught the TD pass that tied the game. Young agreed. "It's a sneak peek of what's to happen not just for me, but this team in general," Young said of a club that has won four of its last six in matching last year's victory total with five games left. Leinart wasn't so successful for Arizona. He completed 31 of 52 passes for a career-high 405 yards, but had two interceptions and only one TD -- a 9-yard pass to Anquan Boldin with 39 seconds to play -- in a 31-26 loss at Minnesota. Larry Fitzgerald Jr., had 11 catches for 172 yards. Boldin made nine receptions for 136 yards for...
| | Sunday's NFL Capsules | | November 26, 2006BALTIMORE (AP) -- Any chance the Pittsburgh Steelers had of returning to the Super Bowl was seemingly laid to rest by the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens sacked Ben Roethlisberger nine times Sunday and coasted to their fifth straight victory, a 27-0 blowout that left the Steelers with only a mathematical chance of reaching the playoffs. Baltimore (9-2) limited the defending NFL champions to 36 yards in the decisive first half. The nine sacks, which totaled 73 yards and matched a Ravens franchise record, included a vicious hit by Bart Scott that forced Roethlisberger out of the game in the second quarter. Roethlisberger missed only one play, but for the rest of the afternoon he was harassed by a relentless rush. It was the second time this year that the Steelers were shut out; the last time Pittsburgh was blanked at least twice in a season was in 1989. The Steelers (4-7) had won two straight following a 2-6 start, but their resurgence was emphatically squelched by the hated Ravens, who lead Pittsburgh in the AFC North by five games with five to play. Roethlisberger went 21-for-41 for 214 yards and two interceptions.... | |
| | Cincinnati 30, Cleveland 0 | | The Cincinnati Bengals got a rare shutout. The Cleveland Browns can't get Braylon Edwards to shut up. Picking off Cleveland quarterback Charlie Frye four times, the Bengals held a team scoreless for the first time since 1989 as Carson Palmer threw three touchdown passes and Cincinnati embarrassed the bickering Browns 30-0 on Sunday. Palmer finished 25-of-32 for 275 yards and connected with Chris Henry for two TD passes as the Bengals (6-5) stayed firmly in the AFC playoff race by beating Cleveland for a record fifth straight time. Cincinnati came in with the NFL's lowest-ranked defense, allowing 378 yards per game. You'd have never known it. Before piling up yardage during extended garbage time in the fourth quarter, the Browns (3-8) had only 167 yards -- 21 rushing -- after three quarters. By then, they were down 30-0 and on their way to dropping to 1-5 at home.
In a season of low points, the Browns have hit rock bottom. "This is pretty low," said coach Romeo Crennel, 9-18 in two seasons with Cleveland. "Last year I was pretty low, too. I wasn't really expecting this." The shutout was the Bengals' first since Dec. 3, 1989, a span of 269...

Chad Johnson, Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals passing game have piled up some impressive numbers over the past two weeks. So have their opponents. Fixing that flaw should be made easier on Sunday for the Bengals, facing one of the league's worst passing attacks as they try to beat the rival Cleveland Browns for a fifth straight time. Palmer threw three touchdown passes to Johnson as Cincinnati (5-5) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 31-16 road victory over New Orleans last Sunday. Palmer threw for 275 yards, one week after setting a career high with 440 in a 49-41 loss to San Diego. He's tied for third in the league with 18 TD passes, and the Bengals rank sixth with 241.3 passing yards per game. Johnson had six catches for 190 yards last week after making 11 receptions for a franchise-record 260 yards and two TDs against the Chargers. "Chad and I have worked together a lot, not just during the season," Palmer said. "We understand each other. I understand how Chad runs certain routes and know he's always looking for that big play if he can get behind the...
